GSIS President and General Manager, Rolando Macasaet, on a radio interview with DZRH NEWS informed all the active members of GSIS that they have a 3-month moratorium on loan payments for the months of March, April, and May. This decision is due to the current situation on the COVID-19 pandemic where GSIS members are also greatly affected.
"Magkakaroon kami ng moratorium for 3 months, starting March, April, and May," Macasaet said.
"Yung iba nadeduct na sa kanila sa sweldo nila, ang gagawin namin po ia-adjust namin yan lahat ibabalik sa kanila 'yung mga inamortize nila at magbabayad na lang ulit sila by June," he added.
Macasaet clarified that they would only adjust the loan scheme like for instance a loan payable for 5 years will be adjusted to 5 years and 3 months because of the 3-month loan moratorium.
Meanwhile, the Department of Education is now coordinating with the GSIS regarding this matter.
