A group of teachers reached out to the government regarding their urgent demands on the measures against COVID-19 pandemic for the welfare of all public and private school personnel who are also in a very tight situation at this moment.
The Alliance of Concerned Teachers (ACT) has addressed a letter to DepEd Usec. Leonor Briones concerning their demands to cover the urgent needs of around 1 million deped employees and private school employees listed as follow:
1. A clear guidelines on the 30-day grace period for the payment of contributions and loan amortization to GSIS and Private Lending Institutions (PLIs);
2. The immediate release of teachers’ 2018 Performance-based Bonus (PBB);
3. A follow up with AO 25 on the granting of 2018 PBB to non-teaching personnel;
4. Cash assistance to DepEd’s skeletal workforce;
5. The facilitation of the timely release of private school teachers and employees’ salaries and benefits, including COVID-related allowances and government aid;
6. The setting up of a medical fund for employees in danger of contracting the disease, citing 5 confirmed cases, 57 Persons Under Investigation (PUIs), and 681 Persons Under Monitoring (PUM) among the department’s employees; and
7. A Php10,000 social amelioration assistance to all DepEd personnel.
