P60,000 Monthly Salary for Nurses Pushed

Lawmakers warned the government that there would be a huge demand for nurses in both public and private sectors after the crisis due to COVID-19 in our country. Hence, the government has to initiate measures to fill this shortage and one of which is to increase their monthly salary.

Anak Kalusugan Party-List Representative, Michael Defensor, urged to increase the salary of both public and private nurses to P60,000 a month to encourage them not to leave the country for higher wages.

Meanwhile, the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) temporarily stopped the deployment of nurses and other medical professionals to other countries due to this COVID-19 pandemic.
