Pahayag ng dating guro na ngayo'y lawyer sa pangtutuligsa sa mga guro ngayon

Isang dating public school teacher na ngayon ay lawyer ang nagpahayag ng kanyang saloobin sa pangbabatikos sa mga pampublikong guro ngayong panahon ng COVID-19 pandemic.

Ayon kay Atty. Steve Russel Regua, hindi lubos na nalalaman at nauunawaan ng mga tao ang totoong hirap sa trabaho ng mga guro at mga sakripisyo nila magampanan lamang ang sinumpaan nilang tungkulin. Dagdag pa niya, bagama't walang klase ngayon ay patuloy pa rin ang trabaho ng mga guro sa reports nila. Aniya, ang mga guro ang mga unang fronliners dahil kung hindi dahil sa kanilang pagsisikap at sakripisyo ay hindi tayo ngayon magkakaroon ng mga iba't ibang propisyon.

Narito ang kabuuang pahayag ni Atty. Regua sa usaping ito: 

I am already a private lawyer for few years now with my own law firm, but in my heart I will always be a Public School Teacher.

I miss being an elementary school teacher, but only in so far as the teaching part is concerned.😅 I did not enjoy doing reports and lesson plans 🤫🤭. I guess even the school heads did not enjoy checking and requiring us to submit those either. Well, that is the essence of commitment. You dont't have to enjoy everything. Most of the times you have to make silent sacrifices that most may not even notice, yet you still do for the welfare of your learners and for the good of our beloved institution.

Others may not even know that during these trying times you spend your own resources to attend webinars and encourage your pupils to try online learning if they can and if they have opportunity, yet you still do.

Others may not even also know that during regular class days you spend more than eight hours in school from 7:00am, or even earlier, to 5:00pm, or even later, and another extra hours at home preparing lesson plans, instructional materials, and checking papers, yet you still do.

Now, they criticize you for getting paid during no classes. I tell you, they are ignorant. They may not appreciate all the works that you do the same way as they now appreciate the frontliners, who cares? You do it not to make your works become viral, but because you know that your works are vital.

Cliché as it may sound, but I am proud to say again and again that there will be no dedicated frontliners, even lawyers, and other professions, if not for the highly committed teachers who mold them to become who and what they are today.

Teachers, for me, you are our very first frontliners and you will always be our first heroes. Let us show the world what COMMITMENT really means.
