The current COVID-19 pandemic has been plaguing the entire world for almost half a year now. As a result, it has affected health, commerce, politics, security, communications, and other fields, most especially education. The new normal, as termed by mass media to keep everyone abreast of the current times, has ushered in alternative, technology-driven, and innovative forms of conducting transactions, conveying news and other updates, and gathering people for learning events. Such examples of learning events are faculty meetings, general assemblies, online classes, and webinars.
Webinars are staples of every school and every educator’s quest for continual learning of new concepts and upgrading of their skills and knowledge. Free or paid, they have proven to become wildly successful, regardless of the platform used. These days, teachers, administrators, and other partners of education have benefited from webinars. One of the advantages is that everyone can communicate in real time without having to leave the comfort of their own homes. An added advantage of webinars and online classes is that learners are able to communicate with speakers and other participants remotely. However, educators must learn how to create their lessons and presentations through the use of technology and present these to their learners; thus, facilitating online classes is both a necessity and an art.
JFE Teacher Training Services and JFER Training and Development Services, together with Valenzuela National High School (VNHS), are organizing their first-ever FREE Webinar. The webinar aims to achieve the following learning objectives:
1. Enable teachers to identify various platforms used for online classes.
2. Let teachers enumerate the functions of the different platforms.
3. Plan online, interactive activities based on learners’ levels and on the
teachers’ respective subjects.
4. Create lessons based on multiple intelligences and thinking skills (LOTS and HOTS).
5. Practice facilitating online classes with skill, precision, and style.
The JFE/JFER/VNHS-organized webinar is worth 15 CPD points and is totally FREE. It will occur from July 2 to 3, 2020 (Thursday and Friday) from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM and will be streamed live.
