Solon urged for public school teachers' sick leave benefits amid pandemic

In this difficult time, public school teachers should be provided with sich leave benefits according to Assistant House Minority Leader France Castro.

In her House Bill filed by Hon. Castro, public school teachers should be provided with sick leave benefits of 30 days per year. For a long period of time, teachers were not provided by these benefits simply because the current rules and regulations do not allow it.

“Public school teachers at present are not given sick leave benefits because current rules and regulations do not afford them this leave privilege,” said Castro.

Castro urged for this bill to be pushed into law to give them proper health protection in this time of uncertainty.

“It is high time that amid the COVID-19 pandemic, we heed the calls of public school teachers and amend the existing laws to provide teachers protection against health complications," she added.
