The Bayanihan to Recover as One Bill or "Bayanihan 2" ensures the 30-day moratorium on utility bills that fall within that period of Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) and Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ) and only in areas under these quarantine classifications.
Bacolod City, Iligan City, and Lanao del Sure are the provinces that are qualified for this 30-day grace period.
Senator Win Gatchalian confirmed that penalties, payment interest, and other charges shall also be waived during this period.
“This provision in the bill will lessen the financial strain of the already overburdened Filipino families living in areas under ECQ or MECQ. For most of them, payment for utility bills eats up a big percentage of their monthly income and this is a relief to those having trouble making payments due to financial difficulties brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic,” said Sen. Gatchalian.
