After five hours of deliberation on the proposed budget of the Department of Education, the House of Representatives, led by newly-installed Speaker Cong Lord Allan Velasco approved the DepEd’s 2021 budget.

DepEd Undersecretary for Administration Alain Pascua defended and discussed the details of the budget, taking careful consideration of the current new normal learning setup. With the help of Negros Congresswoman Jocelyn Sy-Limkaichong who sponsored the budget hearing, and other DepEd officials, members of the Congress acknowledged the need to augment learning materials and equipment that will greatly assist schools, teachers, and learners as they hurdle challenges brought about by the pandemic.
