Sen. Win Gatchalian continues his call to reduce the working hours of teachers in the country during the hearing of the implementation of the Magna Carta for Public School Teachers. This is to avoid burnout among teachers and for them to perform better in their respective teaching responsibilities.
Gatchalian called on the Department of Education to hire more non-teaching personnel to perform tasks that teachers are carrying out aside from their normal teaching duties. This way, the working hours of the teachers shall be reduced.
"We really need to address itong 6 hours requirement for teaching because this impacts also learner outcomes,” said Gatchalian.
“If teachers are overburdened with non-teaching activities, talagang mauubos ‘yung oras nila sa ibang mga activities other than teaching," he added.
