Department of Education Secretary Leonor Briones clarified that teachers will only assist the Department of Health (DOH) in terms of educating the public with regards to the vaccination program set by the government.
Recently, it has been viral in social media when it was flashed in the news that teachers will be part of vaccination teams that will undergo training. Sec. Briones confirmed this but also made it clear that teachers will not be the ones to do the actual vaccination process as it can only be done by trained health workers.
“They are trained to teach. They are not trained to inject. That is very dangerous to the patients,” said Briones.
She also stressed that teachers should undergo proper training from the Health Department to ensure that they will be able to deliver their tasks properly in educating the public of the said vaccination program.
