The Department of Education has confirmed that each teacher with teaching loads shall receive a P5,000 cash allowance to cover internet and communication expenses for the school year 2021-2022.
This is after the statement of Senator Win Gatchalian that the financial support being given to the public school teachers is not enough to cover all the expenses in the implementation of distance learning during this pandemic.
DepEd Undersecretary for Finance Annalyn Sevilla said that under the General Appropriations Act (GAA) 2021, a "Cash Allowance" with a total budget amounting to P4.37 billion shall be granted to teachers.
However, DepEd explained that the said cash allowance is inclusive of teaching supplies, annual medical examination, and internet expenses.
