The Department of Education eyes to open the next school year on August 23, 2021. This is according to DepEd Usec. Diosdado San Antonio in his interview on Tuesday.
With this plan, the vacation break for students which usually takes 2 months shall be shrunk into 6 weeks.
"Ang napag-usapan natin ay July 10 matatapos at kung hindi mabago, August 23 magbubukas ang next school year. So halos 6 na linggo 'yong break sa pagitan ng 2 school year," said San Antonio.
"Parang 2 weeks lang naman shorter sa dating 2 months kasi pandemya naman. Sana hindi na siya mahirap para sa marami," he added.
Usec. San Antonio also stressed that the department is also planning for a possible limited face-to-face classes to aide the existing distance learning.
"Iyong ideal scenario namin, papayagan na ang mga bata na magpunta sa school, kahit paminsan-minsan. May pinaghahandaan din kaming stratehiya para diyan," he explained.
DepEd further ensures the public that the department is working hard to secure the safety of all learners and employees as we move to the next school year.
DepEd plans to open the SY 2021-2022 on AUGUST 23, 2021
