The Department of Education (DepEd) reiterates the provisions of DepEd Order No. 36, s. 2016 titled Policy Guidelines on Awards Recognition for the K to 12 Basic Education Program. This Order emphasizes that formal recognition of learners' outstanding performance and achievement must be done in a manner that encourages them to strive for excellence and to become proactive members of the school community. As applied to the announcement of Academic Excellence awards in written media or in ceremonies, this necessitates that learners who have garnered similar awards must be treated in a fair, impartial, and non-hierarchical manner.
