The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) clarified on Saturday during the Laging handa Public Briefing that there were no interests charged to the loans of teachers throughout the duration of the six-month moratorium.
GSIS Executive Vice President Atty. Nora Malubay said that charging interests on loans during the moratorium is prohibited under the Bayanihan 1 and 2.
"We did not charge any interest. It is prohibited under Bayanihan 1 and 2, so we did not charge any additional interest or whatever. I do not know where these claims are coming from," said Malubay in response to the query of a group of teachers.
"We did not charge any additional interest. It is clear in the policy approved by our GSIS Board of Trustees," she added.
