Lawmakers urged to include P1,500 teachers' monthly internet allowance in the Bayanihan 3 from June to December 2021
Thousands of teachers have signed a petition asking for a P1,500 monthly internet allowance from June to December 2021.
A group of public school teachers submitted the said petition letter to several lawmakers asking for it to be included through the P405.6 billion Bayanihan 3 bill.
The Alliance of Concerned Teachers (ACT) made a strong statement that teachers have been spending from their own pockets just to make sure that the delivery of education in the current distance learning runs smoothly as possible.
"Our teachers have been shouldering the burdensome operation expenses of distance learning," ACT said.
The group stressed that the support from the government is practically insufficient.
Providing a P1,500 monthly internet allowance for teachers for 7 months will require P10.5 billion according to ACT.
