As the end of the current school year is just around the corner, the Department of Education is now planning and preparing for the opening of classes for the school year 2021-2022.
According to DepEd, the opening of classes may begin as late as September 16 depending on the final decision of the president.
“We will give him choices. The August based on the existing law or if he will extend up to September, first or second week,” DepEd Secretary Leonor Briones said during the "Laging Handa" press briefing on Tuesday.
Other DepEd officials emphasized that August 23 is just one of the 3 options/recommendations that will be submitted to the President. The other 2 options will be on September 6 or September 13.
