Teachers' group urged DepEd and DBM for the immediate release of P5,000 cash allowance

The Alliance of Concerned Teachers (ACT) has called on the Department of Education and DBM to immediately release the cash allowance amounting to P5,000 for public school teachers for the SY 2021-2022.

According to ACT National Chairperson Joselyn Martinez, teachers have spent way more than the allotted P5,000 cash allowance in order to cope up with the challenges brought by the pandemic. Expenses like the monthly internet connection and loads have been considered necessities in these trying times and that teachers have gone the extra miles just to make sure that they are able to perform their duties.

She also questioned DepEd in its prior announcement that the said allowance is set to be released not earlier than the official start of every school year or as decided by the Education Secretary in cases of emergency situations.
