Being a public school teacher is considered having the noblest profession in society. Many children aspire to become teachers someday as they see them as role models and are doing great service for the community by educating them.
However, many of the teachers are experiencing financial constraints which often lead to financial loans or borrowing money from the loan sharks. This has become a trend for several generations with the hope of breaking the chain so they can live and serve the community in a comfortable manner.
Some would say that the problem with the teachers lies simply in financial management. But no one can deny the fact that their monthly salaries are basically not sufficient to meet their needs. Most teachers, if not all, are spending their own salaries to purchase the materials and devices they need to teach their learners.
Several lawmakers have filed bills seeking to increase the monthly salary of public school teachers but up until now, there is no significant progress to materialize this matter.
But really, how much would be the most reasonable monthly salary for a public school teacher?
We asked a few sets of teachers and found out that on average, P30,000 to P35,000 would be the most reasonable for a Teacher I and it goes up depending on the position.
According to them, with this amount, they will be able to support their families which is normally a family of 3, and live decently with the rising prices of basic commodities.
