The Department of Education has announced on Monday during the Laging Handa public briefing that the proposed pilot run of face-to-face classes may begin with the Kindergarten to Grade 3 learners.
According to DepEd Undersecretary Nepomuceno Malaluan, the DOH together with the medical experts have recommended beginning the pilot test with the first key stage. Considering that kindergarten classes only last for three hours.
“Dahil sa rekomendasyon ng DOH (Department of Health) at medical experts na ating kinonsulta ay mag-focus lamang po tayo doon sa first key stage, iyung kindergarten," said Malaluan.
Malaluan assured that there will be precautionary measures to be strictly implemented during the said pilot run.
He also stressed that only 12 kindergarten learners will be allowed in each classroom and 16 learners for grades 1 to 3.
Participation in this pilot run is completely voluntary and the selection of schools will most likely be from areas with the least number of COVID-19 cases.
Around 120 public and private schools are expected to participate in this pilot run. However, this proposal is still subject to approval by the President.
