Public school teachers play a vital role in educating our youth, especially in this trying time. Instead of using the traditional chalk and board, things like laptops/computers, smartphones, and other electronic devices have become their primary tools in delivering quality education along with stable internet connections.
Senator Grace Poe took this into consideration as she filed a Senate Resolution urging the government to provide all public school teachers in the country with reasonable internet allowance.
“Kung dati, chalk ang binibili ng ating mga guro, ngayon, load na. ‘Di hamak na mas mahal ‘yun,” Poe said in a statement.
The lady senator pointed out that the existing allowance for teachers is not sufficient to meet the needs for distance learning.

“It is high time for the government to provide additional allowance to teachers to upgrade their digital access and technological capacity and ensure that they are well-equipped to continually assure quality education to their students in this time of pandemic,” she added.
Senator Risa Hontiveros also understands the struggle of public school teachers that she urged the Department of Education to grant them electronic devices such as laptops that will be of great use in the teaching and learning process.
“Huwag nating piliting gumastos ang mga guro para makapagturo...Responsibilidad at gastos dapat ng DepEd ang mga ito,” Hontiveros said.
