Senator Manny Pacquiao who is now running for President vows to double the monthly salary of all public school teachers in the country to "restore dignity" in the teaching profession. He also pushes for the improvement of teachers' welfare in the private sector.
Pacquiao noted that one of the biggest struggles of teachers is the lack of support from the government that causes their living standards to "deteriorate".
“Sobrang napabayaan na ng pamahalaan ang ating mga guro. Noong araw, ang pagiging guro ay isang position of dignity and respect pero parang nawawala na ito dahil napakarami sa ating mga guro ang naghihikahos kaya napipipilitan na pumasok sa mga sitwasyon na nakakawala ng dignidad,” the senator said.
