The new Secretary of the Department of Education, Sara Duterte-Carpio, said that the opening of classes on August 22, 2022 for School Year 2022-2023 is final.
Several teachers' groups have been calling the department to adjust the opening of classes to provide teachers with enough rest as most of them are still accomplishing reports from the past school year.
“This has been approved by the President, so we will proceed with it," said Sec. Sara.
The Teachers' Dignity Coalition (TDC) requested for the opening of classes to be in September for teachers to recharge and prepare for the next school year.
The Alliance of Concerned Teachers (ACT) also urged the department to consider giving the teachers enough time to rest before setting the opening of classes.
