The Department of Education along with the school administrators, teachers, learners, and parents, have agreed to commence the School Year 2024-2025 on July 29, 2024. This move is a progressive step towards restoring the former academic calendar of June to March, which will be fully implemented in three school years.
The Alliance of Concerned Teachers (ACT) Chairman, Vladimer Quetua, said that classes for SY 2024-2025 would begin on July 29 and they are hoping to start the SY 2025-2026 by the third week of June 2025.
However, Quetua also said that these plans have not yet been declared final.
The group also clarified that the rumored May 11 class cut for a late June start is untrue, urging everyone to await the release of the consolidated position memo from parents, teachers, and students.
