Good news! P10,000 teaching allowance to all public school teachers

The Bicameral Conference Committee has reached a consensus and is now suggesting to both the Senate and the House of Representatives the combined bill that proposes to grant a teaching allowance to every public school teacher. The allowance would amount to P5,000 for the School Year (SY) 2024-2025 and P10,000 for SY 2025-2026 onwards. The teaching allowance would also be exempted from income tax.

ACT Chairperson Vladimer Quetua, ACT NCR Union President Ruby Bernardo, and QCPSTA President Erlinda Alfonso are currently at the Senate to show their complete backing for its approval by both branches of the legislature and urge President Marcos Jr. to endorse it as law without vetoing the legislation.

ACT Teachers Partylist Representative France Castro is the main writer of the legislation in the lower chamber of the government. Over time, the original P300 allocation for teaching materials has grown substantially due to the ongoing collaboration between public school educators, ACT Philippines, and ACT Teachers Partylist.
