Vice President and current DepEd Secretary Sara Duterte stressed that teachers and learners need time to rest and that the return to the old school calendar cannot be implemented immediately.
"Hindi pwede natin i-compromise ang pahinga ng mga teachers and learners dahil 'di natin pwede i-dere-deretso and mga klase, kailangan ng pahinga," said Duterte in an interview.
The Department of Education has recently released a DepEd Order adjusting the school calendar for school year 2023-2024 which states that the end of the current school year is on the last day of May 2024. Stipulated in the same order is the rest or vacation for teachers which will run for the entire month of June 2024.
