The Department of Education plans to begin the school year 2024-2025 on July 29, 2024, and end it on March 31, 2025. It will be shortened to 165 days from the prescribed minimum days of 180.
DepEd Assistant Secretary Francis Bringas said that they will have to cope with the possible non-covering of some competencies if they begin on July 29 and end on March 31, 2025.
“The immediate effect of the transition is if we’re going to end in March 2025, the number of school days will be reduced to 165. Historically, the minimum has been 180 school days, and because we will shorten the SY, we will have to cope with the possible non-covering of some competencies,” Bringas said in an interview.
Bringas also explained that to ensure schools can fulfill all necessary competencies for the upcoming school year, the Department of Education will take significant actions to guarantee that all learning areas are addressed within a condensed timeframe.
