Education Secretary Sonny Angara announced that some schools will need to delay their class openings, which were initially set for July 29, 2024, because of the destruction brought by Typhoon Carina and the southwest monsoon (habagat).
"Some schools will really have to postpone their openings kasi maraming aayusin at lilinisin. Pero yung wala o minimal ang damages itutuloy pa rin ang pasukan. I’ll be issuing a list tomorrow kung saan postponed ang pasukan and the regional directors will also work with the principals to assess readiness for school opening. Hindi namin pipilitin yung mga nasalanta talaga at mahihirapan sa school opening ng Lunes," Sec. Angara posted on this official page.
The Department of Education is expected to issue a list of these areas.
