PBBM orders incoming DepEd Secretary Sonny Angara to take care of the teachers

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. gave his latest directive to the Department of Education to take care of the teachers a few days after appointing Sen. Juan Edgardo “Sonny” Angara as the new Education Secretary,

President Marcos instructed DepEd to ensure teachers earn enough to provide for their families.

"So, I said, we have to take care of the teachers. We have to, of course, financially to make sure that they can feed their families. Kasi we tend to forget sometimes that teachers have families," President Marcos elaborated.

He made these comments during the distribution of financial aid in Sulu on Friday, in response to media queries about whether Angara's appointment would lead to a policy change in DepEd.

"We see them just as teachers. They have families and they have to take care of their families. And they cannot teach properly kung inaalala nila ‘yung lagay ng pamilya nila so we have to make sure that they are in good place so that the teachers can concentrate on actual teaching," he added.
