The Department of Education (DepEd) has expressed its heartfelt gratitude to President Ferdinand "Bongbong" R. Marcos Jr. for his directive to enhance the Service Recognition Incentive (SRI) for public school teachers and non-teaching staff to Php 20,000.
Education Secretary Sonny Angara conveyed his appreciation to the President for augmenting the SRI from Php 18,000 to Php 20,000, a measure that is set to benefit approximately 1,011,800 personnel within the DepEd.
Secretary Angara expressed his gratitude toward President Marcos Jr. for his unwavering commitment to improving the welfare of educators and staff. His dedication to the education sector and empathy towards teachers have led to prioritizing the needs of those who play a crucial role in shaping the country's future.
“We thank President Marcos Jr. for his unparalleled dedication to uplifting the welfare of our teachers and personnel. His genuine concern for education and his heart for our teacher has once again prioritized the needs of those shaping the future of our nation,” said Angara.
Additionally, Secretary Angara pledged to collaborate closely with Department of Budget and Management (DBM) Secretary Amenah Pangandaman to ensure the efficient and effective implementation of the increased SRI, while maintaining adherence to fiscal policies.
“Malaking tulong ito sa ating mga guro at kawani para sa kanilang paghahanda para sa kapaskuhan at sa pagsalubong ng bagong taon. Napakagandang regalo nito ng ating administrasyon na kinikilala ang sakripisyo at serbisyo ng ating mga kaguruan,” Angara added.
Secretary Pangandaman and the DBM are tasked with exploring the required funding mechanisms to finalize the implementation and disbursement process of the SRI.
This increase in the SRI is expected to greatly aid teachers and staff in their preparations for the holiday season and the upcoming new year. It serves as a significant gift from the administration, acknowledging the sacrifices and service of the teaching community.
