All National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF) Officials and Employees are hereby informed that the 1446Hijrah (2025) Isra Wal Miraj or Night Journey and Ascension of Prophet Muhammad S.A.W.. will fall on the 27h day of the Islamic lunar month of Rajab 1445 Hijrah, corresponding to January 27, 2025 (Monday). It Is among the recognized Muslim holidays in the country by virtue of Article 169 of Presidential Decree No. 1083, also known as the Code of Muslim Personal Laws of the Philippines dated February 4, 1977. The Civil Service Commission has also issued CSC Resolution No. 81-1277 dated November 13, 1981, recognizing the above-cited Muslim holiday.
Recognized by Article 170 and 172 of Presidential Decree No. 1083 (Code of Muslim Personal Laws of the Philippines), these Provinces and Cities shall observe the holiday on January 27, 2025:
Province of Basilan, Lanao del Norte, Lanao del Sur, Maguindanao, North Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, Sulu, Tawi-Tawi, Zamboanga del Norte, and Zamboanga del Sur, and the Cities of Cotabato, Iligan, Marawi, Pagadian and Zamboanga City, and in such other Muslim Provinces and Cities as may hereafter be created.

The Palace has clarified that January 27, 2025, is not recognized as a nationwide holiday. Instead, it is a special non-working holiday exclusive to the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) and other areas specifically defined under the Muslim Code.
In a statement issued on Sunday, January 26, Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin emphasized that the observance of this holiday is limited to Muslim-majority areas. However, accommodations are being made for Muslim employees residing or working in non-Muslim areas, including Metro Manila. These employees are excused from reporting to work on Monday, January 27.
This announcement provides clarity to earlier questions about whether January 27 would be observed on a broader scale across the Philippines. The day is primarily significant within Muslim communities for religious and cultural observances.
