Complete List of Enhanced Benefit for Teacher and Government Workers in the May 2025 Elections

In preparation for the May 12, 2025, national and local elections in the Philippines, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) has announced enhanced compensation and benefits for teachers and other government employees who will serve as poll workers. These measures aim to acknowledge their vital role in ensuring a fair and efficient electoral process.

Increased Honoraria

Comelec has approved an increase in honoraria for members of the Electoral Board (EB) as follows:

• Chairperson: from PHP 10,000 in 2022 to PHP 12,000
• Poll Clerk: from PHP 9,000 to PHP 11,000
• Third Member: from PHP 9,000 to PHP 10,000
• Support Staff: from PHP 6,000 to PHP 8,000

This adjustment reflects a PHP 2,000 increase across all positions compared to the 2022 elections. 

Service Credits

Recognizing the dedication of educators, the number of service credits granted to teachers for election service will be doubled from 5 to 10 days. Other government employees serving during the elections will receive an additional 5 days of service credits. These credits can be utilized for future leave, providing staff with deserved rest and recovery time post-election. 

Additional Allowances

To further support poll workers, Comelec is proposing a transportation allowance of PHP 1,000 for election day. This initiative aims to ease the commuting expenses of teachers and other government personnel involved in the elections. 

Streamlined Reimbursement Processes

Comelec has committed to simplifying the procedures for reimbursing legal and medical expenses incurred by teachers during their election duties. This effort aims to ensure that educators receive timely support for any challenges faced in the line of duty. 

Legislative Support

Senate Minority Leader Aquilino Pimentel III has expressed strong support for increasing the compensation of teachers and poll workers in the 2025 elections. He advocates for adjustments in the national budget to reflect these enhancements, ensuring that the net amounts received by poll workers are substantial, even after tax deductions. 

These comprehensive measures underscore the government's commitment to valuing the indispensable contributions of teachers and government employees in upholding the integrity of the electoral process.
