List of Schools that Declared February 25 as a Non-Working Holiday

Several educational institutions have declared February 25, the 39th anniversary of the 1986 EDSA People Power Revolution, a non-working holiday—directly contradicting President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s proclamation, which classifies it as a special working day.

Malacañang issued Proclamation No. 727 on October 31, 2024, which included the EDSA anniversary in the 2025 holiday calendar but removed its non-working status. Despite this, several schools have chosen to suspend classes and office work to commemorate the historic event.

Here are the schools that suspended classes on Feb. 25, 2025:

• De La Salle Philippines (All 16 schools)
• University of Santo Tomas
• University of the Philippines - Cebu
• General de Jesus College
• Holy Child Catholic School, Inc.
• Imus Institute Inc

EDSOR schools
• La Salle Green Hills
• Saint Pedro Poveda College
• Xavier School
• Immaculate Conception Academy

University of the Philippines (UP) President Angelo Jimenez announced that the university will implement alternative learning on February 25.

He directed chancellors to decide on work and class arrangements for their respective campuses to facilitate participation in EDSA People Power anniversary events.

In a separate statement, UP Los Baños Chancellor Jose Camacho Jr. confirmed that all UPLB classes would transition to online asynchronous mode on that day.

Similarly, the Jesuit-run Ateneo de Manila University announced on Wednesday that it would adopt asynchronous learning in observance of the EDSA anniversary.
