Release of Clothing Allowance for Gov't Employees

The Department of Education (DepEd) has confirmed an increase in the Clothing and Uniform Allowance for its teaching and non-teaching personnel for the year 2025.

The allowance has been raised from ₱6,000 to ₱7,000, marking a significant boost in financial support for educators. This increase aligns with Revenue Regulations No. 004-2025 issued by the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR), which maintains that the Uniform/Clothing Allowance remains exempt from income tax and fringe benefit tax.

Historically, the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) releases the guidelines for the Clothing Allowance in early April. Following this pattern, the 2025 guidelines are expected to be issued within the first week of April. Once finalized, individual government agencies, including DepEd, will process and release the funds to eligible employees.

The increase in the Clothing Allowance is part of the government’s continued efforts to provide better support and recognition to teachers and other public servants. Education officials have welcomed the development, emphasizing its importance in ensuring that teachers can maintain a professional appearance without additional financial burden.

Teachers and DepEd personnel are encouraged to monitor official announcements from the DBM and DepEd for further details regarding the exact date of release and specific disbursement procedures.

This increase serves as another step in improving the welfare of educators, who play a vital role in shaping the future of the country.
