Several Public Schools Move Graduation Ceremonies to Malls Due to Heat

MANDAUE CITY, Cebu – Due to the intense summer heat and limited suitable venues, several public schools in Mandaue City have opted to hold their graduation ceremonies in alternative locations such as shopping malls and the City Sports Complex. The shift in venue is aimed at ensuring the safety and comfort of students, teachers, and parents during the important milestone celebrations scheduled for April 14 and 15.

Traditionally held in school gymnasiums, this year’s graduation rites are being relocated in response to rising temperatures and overcrowding concerns. Among the schools adapting to the situation is the Mandaue City Central School Special Education Center, which will conduct its ceremony at Pacific Mall. Meanwhile, Mandaue City Comprehensive National High School is set to hold its graduation at the more spacious City Sports Complex.

School officials emphasized that the decision was made to prioritize the well-being of attendees and to accommodate larger groups in cooler, more comfortable settings. Parents and students have generally expressed support for the move, noting that the alternative venues not only provide relief from the heat but also add a touch of novelty and celebration to the occasion.
